42 Iraqis killed in two attacks in Kirkuk

ARBIL, July 23 (KUNA) -- At least 42 Iraqi civilians were killed or wounded in two bomb attacks targeting two mosques in northern city of Kirkuk, police said on Tuesday.
Police source told KUNA an improvised bomb exploded inside Omar bin Abdulaziz Mosque in Athar neighborhood, south of Kirkuk, people performing Taraweeh prayers.
He said that another explosion occured at another mosque in the same area, killed at least 10 worshipers and wounded at least 32 others.
Meanwhile, hundreds participated in the funeral of the President of the Arab bloc provincial council Abdullah Sami Al-Assi who was assassinated yesterday.
The council in Kirkuk demanded security agencies to open an urgent investigation to find the culprits of the attack. (end) nnd.mb KUNA 240046 Jul 13NNNN
