Gunmen attack two prisons in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, July 21 (KUNA) -- The two biggest jails in the Iraqi capital city came under attacks by unknown gunmen on Sunday.
Al-Taji prison in north Baghdad was attacked by a car bomb and RPGs before its guards engaged with the attackers, local police officer told KUNA.
Shortly after the attack, the gunmen launched another attack on the Baghdad Central Prison (formerly known as the notorious Abu-Ghuraib), to the west of the city, and exchanged fire with the guards.
The security forced promptly sent back-up to the two prisons to tighten control on them and quell the ensuing rioting inside.
At least two prison guards have been reported killed and five others injured in the attack on Al-Taji prison, the source said without elaborating on the casualties at the other jail. (end) ahh.gb KUNA 220054 Jul 13NNNN
