CAIRO, July 8 (KUNA) -- Up to 42 people were killed and some 322 others were wounded in the armed attack intended to burst into heavily-guarded compound of the Republican Guards at dawn on Monday, an official announced.
Dr. Mohammad Sultan, the head of emergency, said in a statement broadcast by the official Middle East News Agency the dead bodies and the wounded were dispatched to hospitals located near the scene.
The heavy casualty was inflicted when a group of gunmen attempted to storm into the compound of the facility at dawn today. MENA had reported that 200 of the attackers were arrested, adding that large caches of arms, ammunition and cocktail molotov were found in their possession.
Meanwhile, a military source said two army soldiers were kidnapped by followers of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, in the region of Ain Shams in eastern Cairo. (pickup previous) jz.rk KUNA 081209 Jul 13NNNN
