Algiers accuses Rabat of breaching February understandings

ALGIERS, June 28 (KUNA) -- The Algerian government on Friday accused neighboring Morocco of violating the understandings reached in last February on gradual normalization of relations and the border issues.
During the visit of Secretary-General of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nasser Bourita to Algiers in February, the two sides agreed to put the bilateral ties on the right track in a practical sincere and candid way, the Algerian Foreign Ministry said in a statement here.
They reached understandings to, inter alia, stop the media campaign reciprocally, work together to combat drug trade, and put aside the dispute over the Western Sahara while normalizing the ties.
Regrettably, Algeria, four months later, found that Morocco not only failed to stop the anti-Algeria media campaign but escalated it to a serious level, according to the statement.
The statement came in response to criticisms leveled by the Moroccan Foreign Ministry in a statement yesterday. (end) ft.gb KUNA 282139 Jun 13NNNN
