BRUSSELS, June 14 (KUNA) -- The Mayor of Belgium's port city Antwerp, Bart
De Wever, was quoted saying Friday that the young Muslim men from his city who
have gone to fight in Syria would be struck off from the civil register and
hence lose all benefits.
He also called on them not to go to Syria to fight against President Bashar
Assad regime.
"There is a big chance that you won't come back from Syria. It's hell over
there," De Wever told the newspaper 'Gazet van Antwerpen.'
He said that there are 22 young Muslims from Antwerp currently in Syria and
that they will face prosecution when they return. (end)
