CAIRO, June 4 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Cabinet has adopted a plan, submitted by Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, to deal with the Ethiopian "Renaissance Dam" crisis without causing strains in Egypt's interests and relations with Nile-basin African countries, presidential spokesman announced on Tuesday.
Also, the cabinet decided, during an urgent session held last night under chairmanship of President Mohamed Morsi, to form a national committee consisting of official and popular parties, as well as specialized experts in order to submit their reports to the President and inform the Egyptian public opinion on outcomes of their works, the spokesman said in a press statement.
During the session, President Morsi pointed out strategic considerations which govern Egypt's stance towards the Ethiopian dam, affirming that Egypt would never waive its rights or its share in the Nile River, added the statement.
Furthermore, the Egyptian President urged for making a necessary quick move and study all options to deal with the issue, putting into consideration Egypt's national interests, and maintaining its share of the Nile water, noted the statement.
Moreover, Morsi stressed importance of considering interests and rights of Nile-basin countries in benefiting from the river's natural resources, affirming his country's readiness to cooperate with these countries in this context, without violating Egypt's rights and interests in order to make of the Nile River a mutual beneficial source for all the river-basin countries, and a source for attaining joint development.
