PARIS, May 3 (KUNA) -- France Friday strongly condemned the Syrian regime
forces' "massacre" in Baniyas yesterday in which at least 50 civilians were
killed.
"France condemns this ugly act which shows the escalation of violence in
Syria and is considered a war crime and those responsible should face
international justice," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Philippe Lalliot said in a
briefing.
These crimes, he added, showed how much violence and cruelty used by the
Syrian regular forces and their militias against civilian population everyday,
and the Syrian army's continuous use of scorch land policy and inciting
confrontation between sects.
France, he said, wanted those responsible for those crime to face
international justice and their "crimes do not pass without being punished."
The Syrian human rights observatory announced yesterday the killing of at
least 50 people during fierce clashes between the Syrian regime forces and
opposition in Beidha village in Baniyas. (end)
