ALGIERS, April 16 (KUNA) -- The Arab Labor Organization (ALO) on Tuesday
honored 20 pioneers of Arab trade unionist movement, foremost Hussein Hassan
Al-Youha - co-founder of Kuwait Municipality's trade union.
Al-Youha served as deputy chairman and chairman of the Kuwait Trade Union
Federation (KTUF) in the 1970s.
In a statement to KUNA after receiving the award, he said the honoring was
an appreciation for Kuwait contribution to the Arab trade unionist movements.
Al-Youha appreciated the efforts being made by the Kuwaiti Ministry of
Social Affairs and Labor, and trade unions in protecting the rights of workers.
The 20 honored unionists include eight representatives of government
institutions, five employees, four employers and three ALO staffers.
The award-giving ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 40th Arab
Labor Conference which opened here yesterday.
It gathered Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thikra Al-Rashidi
who leads her country's delegation to the conference, the ALO Director General
Ahmad Mohammad Lokman, Algerian Minister Labor, Employment and Social Security
Tayeb Louh and Kuwait Ambassador to Algeria Faisal Al-Doweesh along with
several Arab celebrities. (end)
