BAGHDAD, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced on Monday
that Iraq would operate next Wednesday the first flight to Kuwait by Iraqi
Airways after 23 years of suspension.
Iraqi Transport Minister Hadi al-Amiri said in a statement distributed here
today that the first flight between Iraq and Kuwait would go on air on
February 27 for the first time in more than 23 years.
He explained that the trip was the result of strenuous efforts by the
concerned authorities in the two countries to resolve the outstanding problems
and the resolution of legal proceedings between them.
He said his ministry and out of its expression of the importance of the
event, it has invited a number of members of the Iraqi Council of
Representatives and the Kuwaiti ambassador in Baghdad to participate in the
opening flight. (end)
