A total of 6132 Syrian refugees cross the boarders to Jordan

AMMAN, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- A total of 6134 Syrian refugees crossed the boarders to Jordan on Wednesday, among official Jordanian expectation of an increase of the number from 300,000 currently to 600,000 refugees.
Jordan News Agency (Petra) quoted an official source in Jordan Armed Forces General Command as saying that an overall of 6134 Syrian refugees, mainly consisting of women, children, and elderlies, including a large number of injured people crossed the borders to Jordan yesterday.
General Coordinator for the affairs of Syrian refugees, Anmar Al-Humod, said that 272 Syrian refugees were sponsored by Jordanian citizens (offered food and shelter outside the refugees' camp).
The total of refugees who returned to their homeland voluntarily reached 143, while 39 refugees went back to the camp.
Violence erupted today at Al-Za'tari camp located northern the country after the death of an infant aged 3 months and a child aged five years old due to the cold weather, and lack of medical care, Al-Ghad Jordanian daily reported.
The newspaper quoted a medial source in the camp as saying that the bodies of the two deceased children were transferred to Forensic Center to find out the reasons for their deaths.
Jordanian official data estimates the number of Syrian refugees in the country at 600,000, regarding the increasing number of refuges crossing the b boarders to Jordan lately. (end) ab.lb KUNA 231333 Jan 13NNNN
