PARIS, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Egypt has placed a second order for six Airbus C295 "new generation" military transports, which makes the European plane the market leader for such transport plane orders, Airbus said in a statement Wednesday.
Egypt has now 12 of the planes on order, in addition to signing a contract for spare parts, support equipment, training and field support.
First deliveries of the military transports for Egypt are to begin later this year.
Airbus said that the C295 is now the best-selling carrier in this category, with a total of 121 sales to 17 different operators. Seven of these sales have been repeat orders like that from Egypt.
About 90 C295 military aircraft are in service today in 15 countries. (end) jk.rk KUNA 161159 Jan 13NNNN
