KUNA chief arrives in Manama for FANA conf.

MANAMA, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Du'aij Al-Sabah arrived here on Tuesday evening to take part in the conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA).
Speaking to KUNA on the eve of the two-day gathering, Sheikh Mubarak said KUNA is participating in the conference out of its keenness on contributing to the modernization of the performances of the Arab wire services.
"KUNA plays an effective role in experience sharing with the other Arab news services, on one hand, and cooperation with FANA, on the other," he pointed out.
Sheikh Mubarak noted that the conference will review the FANA activities over the last period and the efforts to modernize the performance of the Arab news services in the period ahead.
He expressed hope that the gathering will help strengthen the presence of the Arab news agencies on the international media arena through a more effective coordination.
He congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain on the successful hosting of the just-ended Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit, saying the summit met the aspirations of the GCC member states for development, stability and welfare.
Sheikh Mubarak, accompanied by head of KUNA international relations division Esam Al-Ruwaih, also thanked Bahrain News Agency (BNA) for hosting the FANA conference. (end) mga.gb KUNA 252228 Dec 12NNNN
