Saudi conjoined twins successfully separated - MoH

RIYADH, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Saudi Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeea announced Friday night the success of the surgery to separate the two Saudi Siamese twins Abdullah and Salman.
The surgery was successfully conducted at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard here earlier today, under instructions of King King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi TV quoted the minister as saying.
Al-Rabeea, who led the medical team tasked with the surgery, noted that the two twins are fine and started recuperating; there is only the last two stages of the surgery where mucous membranes will be attached to the their bodies temporarily.
The eight-stage operation lasted for nine and half hours; it was the 30th such operation successfully conducted at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard. (end) od.gb KUNA 220057 Dec 12NNNN
