ALGIERS, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- French President Francois Hollande said Thursday
night the true values of Islam have nothing to do with the intolerant and
extremist practices.
Over the last decades Algeria suffered a lot from intolerance but this has
nothing to do with the teachings of Islam, Holland said in an address to the
Algerian students at the Abou Bekr Belkaid University in Tlemcen city, some
650 km to the west of Algiers.
He expressed belief that the weapon against intolerance lies in the true
values of Islam and that the rich history of Tlemcen city evidenced to the
global dimension of the holy faith.
He made the remarks after receiving the honorary doctorate from the
university in the presence of Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika. (pickup
