ALGIERS, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- Algeria and Libya agreed Monday to implement
security coordination initiatives aimed at enforcing border security and
preventing weapons from reaching terrorist groups.
Libyan prime minister Ali Zaidan, speaking to reporters after a meeting
with President Abdulaziz Bouteflika, said Algeria and Libya "approved a number
of initiatives in the security cooperation domains which will be launched
beginning of January 2013."
The initiatives include Algeria's contribution to training Libyan police
forces, he said.
Zaidan said he and Bouteflika discussed security and political issues. "I
have found a complete agreement over most of the issues namely the security
file, security of borders and fighting against terrorism."
Zaidan did not disclose if they have discussed the status of Muammar
Gaddafi's family in Algeria, which consists of Gaddafi's wife, daughter and
two sons.
Zaidan, who arrived here earlier today, is the first Libyan prime minister
to visit Algeria since the collapse of Gaddafi's regime. (pickup previous)
