KUWAIT, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has won the 16th GCC judo championship,
garnering 29 medals, including 22 gold ones.
The Kuwaiti judo team have obtained nine medals, including six gold ones,
only today.
They won their gold medals in men's individual judo events in the GCC judo
event, which concluded here Saturday.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia came second and third respectively.
However, Kuwait quit team judo tournaments owing to the injury of most of
their players.
Speaking to reporters following the conclusion of the Gulf event, the head
of the organizing committee, Obeid Al-Enezi spoke highly of the distinguished
technical level of the championship.
He regarded the Kuwaiti judo team's win of the event a great achievement
for Kuwaiti judo sport.
Al-Enezi of Kuwait boasted that Kuwait garnered six out of seven gold
medals for men's individual events.
For his part, member of the Kuwait Judo and Taekwndo Federation, Eid
Al-Enezi said Kuwait's win of the judo championship was the fruit of efforts
by the board of the federation and players' proper preparations.
He highly lauded the strong will of the Kuwaiti judo players to achieve the
best results in the event.
Al-Enezi said the Gulf championship was marked by enthusiams and strength
especially for men's teams. (end)
