CAIRO, Oct 2 (KUNA) -- The National Center for Translation in Egypt
launched on Tuesday, Rifa'a Al-Tahtawi Award for Translation, as well as
launching a new award given to young translators worth 25,000 Egyptian pounds.
Dr. Camelia Sobhi, the center's managing director, said in a press
statement today that the center organizing (Rifa'a Al-Tahtawi Award), and the
award will be given to the best interpreter work, including certificate of
appreciation, commemorative medal and a financial reward worth 100000 pounds.
Sobhi noted that the organization of this award, which is held for the
fourth year comes from the National Center for translation willingness of
cultural communication between peoples, calling all translators, scientific
organizations and publishers in Egypt and Arab countries to nominate for this
award.
This nominations for the award was lunches for the first time to
institutions and organizations to participate in (Translator Day) which will
be held on the 15th of Oct, where it was awarded in three sessions to work
issued by the Center only.
Mustafa Labib Abdul Ghani won in first session of the award for his
translation of the book (the philosophy of speakers) to the French historian
Harry Wolfson In 2010, and the great translator Bashir Al-Sibai won the award
for his translation of the book (La Question de Palestine), for the historian
Henry Lawrence.
The last session was awarded to the translator Tawfik Ali Mansour for the
book (The Nile: sharing a Scarce Resource), which was written by 19 scientists
interested in the study of the Nile River.
The award named after Rifa'a Al-Tahtawi, who died in 1873, and who was from
the first Arab in modern times in the translation movement, and the center is
preparing to Commemorated his birthday at October 15, and celebrating all
translators in the the festival of (Translator Day). (end)
