NEW DELHI, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Armed rebels known as "Maoists" shot at two
security personnel in India's eastern most state of West Bengal, the Press
Trust of India (PTI) reported, Monday.
The security personnel belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
were seriously injured. The gunbattle between the CRPF men and the Maoists
took place in the forests of West Midnapore district, when the former were
carrying a combing operation.
The report quoted a senior police official as saying that joint security
forces were involved in a fierce gunbattle with the Maoists in the forest
since Sunday night during which the two security personnel were shot at during
the day.
The two jawans were rushed to a nearby government hospital in a critical
condition.
Police suspect that some Maoists had also been injured in the exchange of
