ABU DHABI, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- The team of a hot-air balloon baring the
portrait of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was
nominated on Tuesday for an international prize, awarded by Balloon Adventures
Emirates, and could be the first Arab team to be awarded the honour.
In a statement, the company said that the event would be launched and
organized in cooperation with countries such as Italy, Poland, Germany, as
well as number of international companies specialized in manufacturing hot-air
balloons.
In the event of the Kuwaiti team's winning of the prize, a major
celebration will be held. The nomination comes as a result of the appreciation
of the team's efforts in building bridges of communication and solidarity
between people around the globe, as well as in showcasing local culture to the
world.
The judging committee would be evaluating international participations via
the high quality of the balloons and the materials used in manufacturing them,
said the company.
The Kuwaiti team's accomplishment in becoming one of the most important
participants for this type of sport, is due to its efforts in introducing GCC
and Arab identity through its constant international participations, which
included number of world countries.
For his part, Mousa Malallah, director of Kuwaiti Balloon team, has
expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation for the prize that was awarded
to his team, describing it as a major motivation to perform more national work
in international arenas.
Also, Malallah affirmed that the team's success is due to efforts of
Kuwait's Ministry of Information. (end)
