CAIRO, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- The Arab League customs union committee meetings
kicked off here at the Cairo headquarters Sunday, under the chairmanship of
Kuwait's head of General Administration of Customs, Maj. Ahmad Al-Mathkour.
The two-day meetings will implement development mechansisms in the
framework of the Arab Customs Union and issues of the Greater Arab Free Trade
Area (GAFTA), said Assistant Sectary-General for Economic Affairs of the Arab
league, Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Tuwaijri in a press statement.
The meeting will also discuss mechanims to facilitate the exchange of
information and electronic connection among Arab custom centers as well as
evalution and follow-up for non-tarrif barriers, he added.
In addition to GCC experience on customs information ceneter in the
framework of the GCC Customs Union.
The implementation will follow the structure requirements of the Greater
Free trade area through decisions made by economic, social council and
executive program to facilitate the development trade between the Arab
countries to establish GAFTA. (end)
