Kuwait FM arrives in Tehran for 16th NAM summit

(With a photo) TEHRAN, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, along with a high-level delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Monday to chair his country to the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
In press statement, upon his arrival at Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled expressed his happiness for being in the "friendly Islamic Republican of Iran to head Kuwait's delegation at the 16th summit of NAM." He stressed the importance of this summit and the notable changes, developments, and transformations that took place within NAM and its member states in the past five decades since its establishment, pointing out necessity of strengthen relations and communication among NAM's members in order to keep pace with those developments and changes.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that cooperation would be attained among NAM's members during this summit by applying the movement's principles in light of political, economic, and financial developments and changes, adding that he also expresses hope in what it is to be attained during this summit would meet aspirations and interests of people of member states.
Kuwait pays special attention to NAM since it includes 120 states from all continents, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said, expressing hope in that this meeting in Tehran would boost relations among member states and support movement since it deals with political, economic, social, human rights, and people aspirations during this very important phase in the world.
On participation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in this summit, the Kuwaiti foreign minister said that HH pays special attention to this summit and has commissioned him to head Kuwait's delegation due to special circumstances.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled was received at Mehrabad airport by Iran's foreign ministry director for the Gulf region, Ali Reza Enayati, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iran Majdi Al-Dhefiri, members of Kuwaiti embassy, Lieutenant Col. Hamad Suleiman Al-Kanderi, director of military office at the embassy, Saad Al-Hajri, third secretary, and Walid Al-Mutawaa, diplomatic attache.
The delegation consists of Director of the Arab world affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Jamal Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Director of Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister's Office, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Director of International Organizations Department Ambassador Jassim Mubarak Al Mubaraki and Kuwait's Arab League representative Ambassador Jamal Mohammad Al-Ghunaim, as well as top officials in the foreign ministry.
