KUWAIT, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- 1963 -- Mikhail Jirkasov presents his credentials to the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, as the first ambassador of the Soviet Union to Kuwait.
1967 -- The Society for Social Workers is declared to promote social affairs, staff interests.
1986 -- A power station is inaugurated in South Surra.
1995 -- The State of Kuwait celebrates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
2001 -- UN Secretary General Kofi Annan charges Dr. Ghanim Al-Najjar to be his personal representative in following up on the issue of human rights in Somalia.
2005 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues a decree establishing the Kuwait-China Investment Co. with a capital of KD 80 million.
