Iraqi Nat''l Security Council meets on Syria crisis

BAGHDAD, July 29 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Nat'l Security Council, presided over by Prime Minister and Commander General of the Armed Forces Nouri Al-Maliki, met here on Sunday to discuss the report of an ad hoc committee on borders with Syria and the Syrian refugees.
The council is made up of the ministers of, defense, foreign affairs, interior, finance and justice, as well as the national security advisor and other senior military and police officers.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments of the Syrian crisis and its impacts on the security situation in Iraq in the light of the outcome of the inspection of the border areas by the committee.
The conferees adopted a range of decisions to organize the reception of Syrian refugees at various Iraqi cities notably in the Al-Anbar province, according to a statement issued by Al-Maliki's office.
The Iraqi government has recently decided to set up camps in Al-Anbar for receiving the influx of refugees from Syria under joint supervision by the ministries of defense, interior and communication, and the red crescent society. (end) mhg.gb KUNA 291800 Jul 12NNNN
