BERLIN, July 5 (KUNA) -- The German Defense Ministry confirmed on Thursday
that two soldiers from German Army forces (Bundeswehr) suffered injuries in an
attack carried out by Taliban gunmen in Afghanistan late on Wednesday.
The ministry said in a statement that the two soldiers were wounded when
their patrol, which was on a reconnaissance mission, came under fire 10
kilometers from the town in the north of Afghanistan.
It added that troops of the German Army force, serving under umbrella of
the international force in Afghanistan (ISAF), responded to the shooting and
clashed with the attackers for half an hour.
The forces transported the wounded soliders to a hospital, operated by the
German Army, in Kunduz.
The German Parliament (Bundestag) approved, in the beginning of the year, a
bill for withdrawal of the 5,000 army troops from Afghanistan by 2014. (end)
