Spanish police nab suspected ETA operative

MADRID, June 30 (KUNA) -- The Spanish Interior Ministry announced Saturday its security services managed to arrest a suspected member of the Basque separatist organization ETA.
Identifying the detainee as Josue Rodrigues, the ministry said his arrest was made after a warrant by the supreme national court of Spain.
The arrest took to 17 the number of the ETA operatives detained since the start of the year, it said in a statement here.
Yesterday the British police nabbed two members of the banned organization namely Antonio Troitino and Ignacio Lerin in London in coordination with the Spanish police.
The arrest of the two most wanted terrorists was hailed by the Spanish Interior Ministry as a "heavy blow" for the group.
A similar joint security operation led to the arrest of two ETA suspects in south France on June 27.
The terrorist group declared an end to its 43-year campaign of bombings and shootings on October 20, 2011; the campaign left at least 850 deaths many of who are civilans.
Nevertheless, the Spanish security services continued tracking down the suspected members of the group, arresting about 20 of them since the announcement of the truce. (end) hnd.gb KUNA 302237 Jun 12NNNN
