RAMALLAH, June 25 (KUNA) -- Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said
Monday he was ready to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
"We want peace and I hope Russia helps Israel and the Palestinians in order
to boost peace," Netanyahu told a joint news conference with Russian President
Vladimir Putin.
"The key to peace is not complicated but very simple which is that
President Abbas comes here, and I am ready for all options to meet him, but we
have to start talking and I hope this simple message be relayed to Abbas," he
added.
On the Egyptian elections, Netanyahu said Israel appreciated the democratic
process in Egypt and respected the outcome of elections, which was won by
Mohammad Morsi, the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood.
"We are looking forward to working with the new (Egyptian) administration
on the basis of respecting peace, and I think making of peace is very
important for Israel and Egypt," said Netanyahu.
On the Iranian nuclear program, Netanyahu said Israel and Russia agreed
that Iranian nuclear weapons posed a threat on Israel.
Putin, meanwhile, said they discussed the Iranian nuclear file and the
conflict in Syria.
He said Russia has no plans to interfere in the changes taking place in the
Arab countries.
The Russian leader will meet president Abbas in Bethlehem tomorrow. (pickup
