Japan''s Crown Prince heads to Saudi Arabia for condolence

TOKYO, June 20 (KUNA) -- Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito left for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to offer his condolences over the death of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Crown Prince Naruhito is accompanied by former House of Councillors President Satsuki Eda, who serves as Japanese government's special envoy.
Crown Prince Nayef died in Geneva last Saturday. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda extended condolences on the following day over his death, while expressing appreciation to the late crown prince's great contribution to the peace and stability of Islamic world as well as the entire world.
The premier also praised a significant role he had played in maintaining security in the Kingdom and enhancing friendly and cooperative relations between Saudi Arabia and other countries, including Japan.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba visited the Saudi Embassy on Monday to sign the book of condolences. (end) mk.asa KUNA 201158 Jun 12NNNN
