CAIRO, June 7 (KUNA) -- The Arab League welcomed Thursday the breakthrough
achieved in the Palestinian reconciliation talks held in Cairo Wednesday.
Palestinian rival factions Fatah and Hamas agreed here on Wednesday on the
ministerial lineup of the national consensus government.
In press statements, Arab League's Assistant Secretary General for
Palestine Affairs Ambassador Mohamed Subeih said that pan-Arab organization
have exerted strenuous efforts to achieve a breakthrough in this important
issue since the deadly clashes between Hamas and Fatah in mid 2007.
Subeih also lauded the pivotal role played by Egypt to help achieve
reconciliation between Palestinian rivals at this critical point in time.
He added that the Palestinian people are yearning to see such a
reconciliation agreement turn into a reality.
Subeih urged Arab countries and the international community to help the
Palestinians achieve this goal. (end)
