Iraqi politicians still working on solving political crisis

BAGHDAD, May 19 (KUNA) -- Representatives of Iraqi political parties, meeting saturday at Shiite cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr's house in An-Najaf, failed to conclude an outcome that would address the political standoff in the country.
The meeting, called by Al-Sadr, did not touch upon withdrawal of confidence of prime minister Nouri Al-Maliki.
At a news conference following the meeting, Al-Sadr said the meeting aimed at serving the Iraqi people. He did not give further details.
Parliament speaker Osama Al-Nujaifi told the same news conference the participants discussed the political crisis in Iraq, and was a follow up to a meeting held in Irbil, northern Iraq, earlier.
All options to address the political standoff are open including the stripping of confidence of Al-Maliki, he said.
Iraq has been experiencing political disputes between Al-Maliki on one side and president of Iraq's Kurdistan province Masoud Barzani and Iraqiya List's Ayad Allawi. (end) ahh.bs KUNA 192234 May 12NNNN
