SANAA, May 7 (KUNA) -- Twenty-two Yemeni soldiers and one policeman were
killed, and 12 others were injured in an Al-Qaeda attack at Hosen Jaafar point
and Al-Mash'hoor rest area in Zinjibar in southern Yemen, the Ministry of
Defense affirmed here on Monday.
In a statement, the ministry noted that Al-Qaeda terrorists attacked Yemeni
military personnel early today, in which led to the death of 22 soldiers and
one policeman, and injury of 12 others, adding Al-Qaeda's casualties of dead
and injured ones were many, mostly foreign fighters.
On its part, Ansar Al-Sharia group, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, said in a
statement that it has killed 30 Yemeni soldiers and captured 28 others, adding
that its fighters have also seized a tank in its entirety of machineries and
weapons. The group admitted the death of eight of its members. (end)
