KUWAIT, May 4 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah on
Friday affirmed the scrap yard fire in Amghara, Kuwait, was currently under
control and would be put out shortly.
In a statement to KUNA from the incident site, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said
that firemen were put making a great effort in fighting fire in accordance
with an integrated plan that is being implemented on the ground.
He praised all efforts taken by everyone during these difficult and
dangerous times, affirming his appreciation and pride in what he witnessed
from the firefighters, which embodies the national spirit that they were
raised on.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled praised to the Mighty Allah to protect Kuwait and
its people from any harm.
On his part, Colonel Yusuf Al-Ansari, the deputy general director for fire
combat affairs and development of human resources at the general fire
department, told KUNA that the firefighters have controlled Amghara's fire and
were currently in the process of putting it out.
He noted that the fire would be completely put out within two hours, in
which afterward there will be filling procedures using sand to cover ignited
tires and prevent them from being ignited again, affirming no injury has
occurred due to Allah's grace.
Al-Ansari praised firefighters' huge efforts, as well as government sectors
that participated in fighting the fire such as ministry of defense and
national guards, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), ministry of interior, medical
emergencies, municipality, and all citizens who took part in the process.
