BAGHDAD, March 28 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Aarabi
said that the draft of Baghdad Declaration will be finalized and release at
the end of the 23rd Arab summit.
"Iraq will regain its Arab and regional status and emerge as a source of
power at the end of this summit," al-Arabi noted, on Wednesday, in his opening
speech at the Arab Foreign Ministers preparatory meeting held here.
He further said that the draft Declaration of Baghdad consists of nine
points that will be discussed during the summit's meetings. It will focus on
the Palestinian issues, the situations in Syria and Yemen, the famine and
poverty in Somalia.
It will also shed light on creating a nuclear weapons free-zone in the
Middle East region as well as putting a stop to international terrorism.
Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said, earlier, that Iraq agrees with
the decisions concerning the Syrian crisis made by the Arab League and the UN
and Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.
The Arab Summit will be a strong comeback of his country after many years
of international isolation, Zebari noted. (end)
