RIYADH, March 7 (KUNA) -- In a strongly-worded statement, the Saudi Foreign
Ministry rejected on Wednesday Russian Foreign Ministry's recent serious
accusations to the Kingdom of supporting terrorism in Syria.
In a statement to the Saudi news agency (SPA), a senior Foreign Ministry
official said the Ministry totally rejects and condemns the irresponsible and
groundless statements to against the Kingdom.
The Saudi Kingdom is eager to deal with the Syrian crisis in line with
international laws and through the UN Security Council.
"These efforts were unfortunately aborted by the Russian veto which gave
the Syrian regime a green light to go ahead with its crimes against its
defenseless people in contradiction with human morality and all international
laws and norms," the official said.
The official pointed out that the Russian charges are based on untrue
assumptions, promoted by Syrian regime and rejected by the international
community, that Al-Qaeda terrorists and armed groups are the backbone of the
Syrian opposition.
He underscored that this approach is tantamount to an explicit support to a
regime that is involved in crimes against humanity and makes it legal and
ethical responsible for such crimes. (end)
