(With photos) TUNIS, March 7 (KUNA) -- The Tunisian government signed a agreement here on Wednesday with the Manama-based Gulf Finance House (GFH) and the Turkish contracting group DEMTAS to launch "the Tunis financial harbor." The mega project, involving investments of up to USD five billion, will be launched over an area of 500 hectares to the north of the capital city of Tunis, GFH Board Chairman Essam Janahi told reporters here.
Janahi made the reports after signing the tripartite partnership deal with Tunisian Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and representative of DEMTAS, one of the leading Turkish real property developers.
"To be located in Kalaat Al-Andalous, the Governorate of Ariana, the planned business hub will house investment banks, insurance companies, hotels, shops, housing apartments, and sports and entertainment facilities," he revealed.
The project will give a strong impetus to the Tunisian economy as it will employ up to 16,000 workers during its implementation. It will place Tunis as a leading financial hub in the North Africa region and enhance the financial position of GFH, he added. (end) jn.gb KUNA 072152 Mar 12NNNN
