BAGHDAD, Sept 12 (KUNA) -- An armed group intercepted Monday a bus west of
Iraq carrying passengers coming from Syria and killed 22 men before the Iraqi
police intervened and protect the women and children on board, a security
source said.
The source said the gunmen killed all men on board the bus. All the
passengers are from Karbala.
State-run TV confirmed the killing and said the Iraqi passengers were
visiting a shrine in Syria and were returning back to Karbala.
Major-General Abdulhadi Ruzaij, commander of Al-Anbar Police, told KUNA
they have recovered the 22 bodies, and the women and children inside the bus
were safe. (end)
