BAGHDAD, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Leader of Sadrist front, Muqtada Al-Sadr, ordered Saturday cessation of military operations against American forces in Iraq as the US troops would be carrying out their final withdrawal phase from the country.
In a statement, Al-Sadr said out of keenness on stability of Iraq coupled with withdrawal of the American forces "I am obliged to halt military operations of the Iraqi resistance until completion of withdrawal." But Al-Sadr warned the US forces against failing to pull out.
Sadrist MP Moshreq Naji, in another statement, said Al-Sadr's decision to cease military operations came after a senior US officer informed the Iraqi government that withdrawal had officially begun.
The US is pulling out of Iraq by end of this year in line with a security agreement that was signed in 2008. (end) mhg.bs KUNA 102353 Sep 11NNNN
