BRUSSELS, April 1 (KUNA) -- Several top bankers from the Gulf and Arab
world have already confirmed their participation in the eighth summit of the
Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) to be held in Luxembourg on 12-13 May. According to the updated list of participants, these will include central
bank governors and representatives from Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, Malaysia,
Nigeria, and Lebanon, as well as many international finance and economic
experts. The Central Bank of Luxembourg will be hosting the conference which is
themed "Enhancing Global Financial Stability. Challenges and Opportunities for
Islamic Finance".
The IFSB, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, says its goal is to
promote and enhance the soundness and stability of the Islamic financial
services industry by issuing global standards and guiding principles for the
industry, banking, capital markets and insurance sectors. (end)
