GAZA, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- Clashes in southeast Gaza Strip led to the death of
two Palestinians on Sunday when Israeli forces were approaching the Khozaa
town, local radio stations reported.
Palestinians launched rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) towards Israeli forces
aided by apache fighters at Khozaa along the Gazan-Israeli boarders and its
surrounding, the stations said, adding that some of the houses were damaged by
the Israeli fire.
Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) said in
a statement that member Musaab Abu Rook was killed in confrontations between
Israelis-Palestinians.
Medical Palestinian sources said that they were not able to reach the
corpse of 20-year-old Mahmoud Al-Najjar, a victim of the combat, because
Israelis were firing at ambulances.
Meanwhile, Radio Israel quoted an army spokesman as saying that Israel
foiled a Palestinian attempt to install explosives near the barrier south
Gaza; the operation resulted in the injury of two Palestinians.
Israel said that it would respond vigorously to attempts aiming at
escalating security tension in the southern parts of the strip. (end)
