Speaker praises Amir for turning summit a success

KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- The National Assembly praised Tuesday the success of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in uniting the Arabs during the Arab Economic Summit.
NA Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi said at today's parliamentary session that the uniting of Arabs and reconciling some of their major differences was important for uniting stances and achieving joint action to face the joint enemy.
The small country, Kuwait, showed the whole world that it was able, through the wisdom of its Amir, to achieve success in the summit regardless of the difficulties, he said.
Al-Kharafi hailed the resolutions of the summit especially those regarding the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, saying the issue was humanitarian and it was a must to address it at the summit, although it was an economic concern.
Due to the Kuwaiti belief in the Palestinian cause, His Highness the Amir decided to make the issue a priority at the summit and was able, along with the other Arab leaders, to agree on suitable decisions to support Gaza and fulfill the needs of the Palestinian people, he highlighted.
The summit also resulted in economic decisions that hopefully will be followed up, he added.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah praised His Highness the Amir's efforts during the summit, pointing out that Kuwait will be heading the Arab summit in the next two years.
