BASRA, April 4 (KUNA) -- British military command in Southern Iraq has
deployed more military units around Basra to provide Iraqi forces with
logistical support.
Spokesman for the British forces in Basra, in a statement, said fortified
British military units were deployed to areas of Basra and by the boarders of
the province as early as last night.
The aim is to provide Iraqi troops with logistical support, it explained.
The British forces officially handed security control of Basra to Iraqi
forces on December 16 of last year, and ended it military existence in the
city. The British troops are now stationed only at Basra Airport. (end)
