DOHA, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Under aegis of Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani the Islamic Art Museum will be opened on November 22, acting executive chairman of the Qatar Museum Authority (QMA) Abdullah Al-Najjar said here Wednesday.
The museum is one of the leading cultural projects on the Arab and Islamic arenas as well as the world level, Al-Najjar told reporters.
The project place Qatar in the forefront of cultural activities and turn Doha into capital of Middle East culture and minaret of world arts, he pointed out.
The museum is a wonderful architectural work of art on an area of 35,500 square meters on an artificial island 60 meters away from Doha beach, he noted.
It consists of five-storey building and a two-storey educational suite and a yard between them.
The exhibits were gathered from three continents and date back to the seventh century, Al-Najjar disclosed.
A visitor of the museum, whether youngsters or adults, will be able to journey through time and recognize the different stages and nature of the Islamic art, he added. (end) ma.gb KUNA 232256 Jan 08NNNN
