Jurors view bin Laden images from terror accuseds laptop

LONDON, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- A jury was Wednesday shown videos featuring the 9/11 attacks in the US and Osama Bin Laden which were found on the computer of a student accused of terrorism charges, a court in Scotland said.
The High Court, in Glasgow, also saw a film of people urging Muslims to Jihad and suicide missions.
The images and documents were found in a folder on the laptop of Mohammed Atif Siddique which was seized at Glasgow Airport.
Siddique, 21, from Scotland, denies a total of five charges including distributing terrorist materials through websites and claiming to be a member of the al Qaida terror network.
The offences are alleged to have been carried out between March 1, 2003 and April 13, 2006, the court was told.
Michael Dickson, 42, a forensic analyst attached to the police, told the court the items were in a folder called 1 which could have been difficult for a casual observer to find on the computer.
Two of the videos were played in court today.
One showed a series of images including the planes flying into New York's Twin Towers, images of war and men in Islamic dress as well as pictures of US President George W Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Osama Bin Laden.
The images were accompanied by chanting with English subtitles translating the words.
The chants were directed against Americans and included the words "Oh Allah eradicate them with your power and omnipotence'' and "Direct your forces against them''.
A second video showed the image of someone who appeared to be Osama Bin Laden urging Muslims to Jihad.
It also showed pictures of young men moving across the screen who were described as members of the "martyrdom battalion''.
The video was accompanied by chants directed towards America and its allies which included "We are marching towards you with men who love to die just as much as you love to live'' and chants directed towards Muslim youth including "It is obligatory upon you to continue with these martyrdom operations, it is by Allah the things that affect and massacre the Americans most''.
The trial continues. (end) he.bz.
