IRBIL, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- Four militants were killed and eight civilians were
wounded on Sunday in violent attacks in Kirkuk and Mosul.
An Iraqi police source told KUNA that the Iraqi army was able to pursue a
booby-trapped truck ridden by a suicide bomber in Al-Qayara area south of
Mosul and detonated the truck.
The source said the suicide bomber, a Saudi, only sustained injuries as a
result of the blast. He was plotting to attack military targets in the area.
It added that the Iraqi army also managed to detonate another booby-trapped
truck driven by another Saudi terrorist who was later arrested.
On the other hand, the source pointed out that fierce clashes erupted
between trooops of the second betallion and an armed group in Al-Thowra suburb
west of the city. Four militants were killed and two vehicles were destroyed.
Furthermore, Kirkuk police sources said that the city witnessed a series of
scattered explosions without inflicting casualties. (end)
